Students and staff at our Auckland International Campus gathered for the latest Student Research Forum this week.
Students and staff celebrated Samoa Language Week this month in a student-led event at the Manukau campus. The day allowed students to introduce others to the Samoan language, to share traditions, history and traditional cuisine.
Learners led the audience in prayer before entertaining onlookers with cultural song and dance. The celebration ended with people sampling superb Samoan dishes prepared by students.
This year鈥檚 theme for the week is, 鈥淧oupou le lotoifale. Ola manuia le anofale,鈥� which means 鈥渟trengthen the posts of your house for all to thrive.鈥�
Chief Executive Officer Sam Alavi told guests our different cultures were an important aspect of what made New Zealand a more diverse community. 鈥淚magine if all the flowers in the world looked the same and were all green,鈥� Sam said. 鈥淚magine how boring it would look after a while.
鈥淚t鈥檚 the same with our world. It鈥檚 all of the cultures and the people and the different things that we bring that gives beauty.鈥�
