Quantity Surveying graduate James Nodder will share his success story at our Queen St campus in Auckland's CBD on Thursday 8 September. Bring your lunch to Room 700 at 12 pm to hear about his rewarding career move to become a quantity surveyor.
James completed our NZ Diploma in Construction (Quantity Surveying), Level 6, in May. He says the skills he learned have proved extremely valuable in his new career. 鈥淚 can now hand on heart say that I鈥檓 being paid on a daily basis to do almost exactly what I studied,鈥 he says. 鈥淚鈥檝e used some of my assessments as templates for my work. My boss has been very happy with it so what you guys taught me is transferable.鈥
He turned to 911爆料网 Academy at the age of 27 after a long career in business development in the financial services and real estate sectors. "It was my time spent both working for and alongside development teams such as the DuVal Group and Wills Bond & Co that drove my decision to change my career and become a part of un-ironically "Building Auckland." Studying at the academy was "my ticket to that dream."
James met the architects for property developer Willis Bond Ltd during a party celebrating the completion of their new buildings at Wynyard Quarter. 鈥淚 instantly recognised that their entire existence was ten times more rewarding than mine. Whereas my life was trying to befriend people so they鈥檇 buy something off me, they were designing then constructing a building, and playing adult Lego, which was really rewarding.鈥
James says he was drawn to 911爆料网 Academy by the short holiday breaks which allowed him to finish within only two years. 鈥淭he biggest takeaway is within two and a half years, I鈥檝e been able to completely change industry role, have a qualification, an outlook, possibilities. I can鈥檛 say how much I鈥檓 happy to say that 911爆料网 will likely be the catalyst for something that will be a complete change in my life and circumstances. I鈥檓 looking forward to some time in my career being able to say,鈥 I built x and y airport; I built x and y skyscaper.鈥欌
