Celebrating Matariki and Samoan Language Week Across Our Campuses
At our campuses, we brought culture, creativity, and connection to life through the vibrant celebrations of Matariki and Samoan Language Week.
At our campuses, we brought culture, creativity, and connection to life through the vibrant celebrations of Matariki and Samoan Language Week.
To mark the M膩ori New Year, we spiced things up for Matariki - each class brought something unique to the table. From speeches explaining the symbolism of Matariki to energetic singing and dancing, students embraced the spirit of renewal, reflection, and unity that Matariki represents. It was a beautiful reminder of the importance of coming together as a community to honour the past and look forward to the future.
Alongside Matariki, we also celebrated Samoan Language Week, highlighting the richness of Samoan culture and language.
At Wiri Youth Campus, our students did what they do best - celebrating through kai.
Over at Royal Oak, our Early Childhood students shone with a colourful cultural dance performance. Dressed in traditional attire, they lit up the room, sharing their heritage with energy and pride.
These celebrations brought students and staff together, reinforcing the value of cultural diversity and the beauty of sharing our stories. Whether through song, food, or dance, we honoured two important cultural moments and the spirit of learning from one another.
