M膩ori Advisor Matt Rua shared the Auckland International campus (AIC) values and introduced students to key phrases in Te Reo M膩ori. Academic Director (International) Russell Harray spoke about the multicultural nature of Auckland and the diversity of AIC staff. He encouraged students to bring their own culture, experiences, and expertise into the classroom.

Russell explained that studying at AIC may feel different from what many students were used to. Classes are small, teachers are known by their first names, and classrooms are designed to encourage discussion and collaboration. Rather than sitting through long lectures, students would actively contribute, share experiences, work in groups, take part in discussions, and deliver presentations, he said.

He added that students would have regular opportunities to provide feedback, which their teachers would use to improve the learning experience. He said AIC provided strong support, with staff committed to helping every student succeed.

Although formal classes begin next week, students have already participated in workshops focused on academic success, employability, and industry engagement. Today was a day of introductions, presentations, and inductions.
