Celebrating Nowruz at AIC

We celebrated Nowruz at our Auckland International Campus with sweets and beautiful Haft-Seen tables.

Nowruz, also known as the Persian New Year, symbolises renewal, hope, and the turning of the seasons. Celebrated by many communities around the world, it is a time to reflect, reconnect, and look ahead.

Haft-Seen tables are an ancient and cherished tradition of Nowruz. They feature seven symbolic items, each beginning with the letter 鈥淪鈥� in Persian:

Seeb (Apple) 鈥� Health and beauty
Seer (Garlic) 鈥� Protection and strength
Somaq (Sumac) 鈥� Sunrise and patience
Senjed (Dried Oleaster Fruit) 鈥� Love and wisdom
Serkeh (Vinegar) 鈥� Wisdom and ageing
Samanu 鈥� Strength and the sweetness of life
Sabzeh (Sprouts) 鈥� Rebirth and renewal

The tables also include other meaningful items, including a mirror symbolising reflection, coins symbolising prosperity and wealth, and flowers symbolising the arrival of spring, renewal, and the blossoming of life.
