Originally from India, Namira is studying a Bachelor of Applied Management at AIC. Alongside her studies, she works part-time and serves as a Student Ambassador.

“I enjoy meeting new people, supporting others, and being actively involved in the student community,†she says.

“One of my greatest passions is working with children, and my long-term goal is to become a teacher and make a positive difference in young people's lives.â€

Before coming to New Zealand, Namira completed her schooling in India as well as certifications in Digital Marketing and Microsoft Office.

“Moving to New Zealand was a major step in my life, and since arriving, I have focused on building my education, gaining work experience, and creating opportunities for personal and professional growth.â€

She chose AIC because of its practical approach to learning and supportive environment.

“The Bachelor of Applied Management programme stood out to me because it focuses on developing real-world skills and preparing students for future careers. I believed AIC would provide the right foundation to help me achieve my goals while gaining valuable industry knowledge.â€

She says the supportive lecturers, welcoming environment, and opportunities for academic and personal growth have made her experience especially rewarding.

“The best things about studying at AIC have been the supportive lecturers, the welcoming environment, and the opportunities to grow both academically and personally.â€

Being a Student Ambassador has also been a highlight, allowing her to connect with students from diverse backgrounds, support new students, and represent the AIC community. She says the role has helped her develop confidence, leadership skills, and lasting connections.

Namira's first job in New Zealand was with Kelly Club, an out-of-school care service for primary-aged children.

“It was my introduction to working with children and helped me develop confidence, communication skills, and teamwork.â€

She now works as a Programme Assistant at sKids, another out-of-school care service for primary-aged children.

“I have always wanted to work with kids. I enjoy supporting their learning, creativity, and development while helping create a safe and positive environment where they can thrive.â€

She says these experiences have strengthened her passion for education and reinforced her goal of becoming a teacher.

“I feel grateful that life has given me the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a field that I genuinely enjoy.â€

Balancing study and work while adapting to life in a new country has not always been easy. Namira credits the support of AIC, her workplace, friends, family, and her faith with helping her through the challenges.

“My faith has also helped me stay positive and motivated during difficult times. Over time, these experiences have made me more confident, independent, and resilient.â€

She is also grateful to the people who have supported her throughout her journey, particularly her family.

“I am incredibly grateful to Allah for guiding me throughout my journey and giving me the strength to overcome challenges. I am also deeply thankful to my family for their unconditional love, support, and belief in me, even from thousands of kilometres away.â€

Looking back, Namira says every challenge has helped her grow and encourages other students to embrace new opportunities, build connections, and believe in themselves.

“To every current and future student: believe in yourself, trust the process, and never stop chasing your dreams. With faith, determination, hard work, and the support of those who care about you, anything is possible.â€
