Employability Specialist

Nicki completed her undergraduate degree at Massey University, studying a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Sociology. Following this, she completed a Master of Arts, majoring in Employment Sociology and her research focused on young people's experiences of work in Auckland, New Zealand.

She has a real passion for all things employment, and after graduating from her Master's, she went on to complete a Graduate Certificate in Career Development at the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology.

Nicki spent seven years working as a tutor and programme leader at Massey University across its Bachelor of Arts core programmes, the Sociology Programme and an educational initiative for secondary students across New Zealand, Iceland, China, Taiwan and Fiji.

More recently, she worked as a Vocational Consultant, supporting individuals with a return to work, which included enhancing employability skills, coordinating learning and training and assisting people to obtain work experience.

Nicki’s research interests include people's experiences of work (both paid and unpaid work), employability and vocational resiliency.

Her goal for learners is to ensure a 'toolbox' of skills is built to enhance the confidence of each learner and leverage the capabilities that sit within them.

Outside of work, she enjoys food and loves any and all cuisines. This includes cooking, sharing meals and trying new things. Aside from that, she enjoys spending time with her family (and her cat).
