He began his career as an assistant accountant at the College of Basic Education, where he managed a range of accounting processes.

Ibrahim moved to New Zealand in 2020 to undertake a Master of Business (Accounting) at AUT, graduating with First Class Honours. His doctoral research explores accountability and sustainability reporting in post-conflict regions, focusing on developing an accountability framework that integrates religious and cultural dimensions to evaluate corporate sustainability reporting in Kurdistan.

His goal as an educator is to empower learners to think critically and ethically about accounting’s role in society and to help them connect theory with real-world practice.

Outside of academia, Ibrahim enjoys travelling, reading about history and culture, and spending time with family and friends.
